OFFLINE.EXE (c) 1991 Karl Schneider
S & H Engineering, Inc.
For WILDCAT 3.0x+ ONLY 8505 Woodwick Ct.
Tampa, FL 33615
813 884 9661 voice days & eves
BBS midnight - 0700 EST.
OFFLINE is a fast Wildcat 3.0x+ Files Listing program for files
stored off-line. They are flagged in your Files Database, item
# 23 and a user's attempt to download one of them will result in
Wildcat asking him if he wishes to leave a request. If you put
a file BACK ON-LINE for a user, DON'T FORGET to change the flag
in your Files Database!
You can exclude one or more file AREAS from the list or INCLUDE ONLY
one or more areas, and have a detailed listing showing filename, date,
size, # of downloads, and description, or a 'short' version showing
only filename, K size and description, one file per line, just as in
WC3FLIST, my regular files listing program. OFFLINE is written in
Turbo C, is very fast and does not require BRUN runtime modules.
OFFLINE.EXE can live anywhere in your PATH...but it must be EXECUTED from
your Wildcat Home Node Directory. (file sharing is supported and nodes
do not need to be 'down')
In the same Home Node Directory you must have a text file, OFFLINE.CFG.
A sample copy is included in this archive and is reproduced here:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BBS Name:Agora BBS of Tampa
Short (single line) listing?:n
Include ONLY areas:
EXCLUDE areas:2,19,83
Output file pathname:D:\WC\OFFLINE.LST
OFFLINE will stop reading lines in this file when it reaches a blank
line as above. You can store any comments or notes of your own down
here. You can even take out the information BEFORE the ':', but do
NOT remove the ':' itself!
If you INCLUDE only certain areas, then you can NOT also EX-
CLUDE some, and vice-versa. Put your own information after the ':'s
in the lines above. Don't leave any SPACES between the colon and
your data!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are no 'password' options, since off-line files are, obviously,
even more protected than passworded files from unauthorized downloads.
OFFLINE uses memory up to the available limit. It should handle
around 8000 files, depending on your memory and setup. If you find it
running out of memory (it will tell you!)....you will have to
run it more than once, with different groups of 'included areas'. You
can than of course copy the output files together with DOS COPY...
Please consider registering this program if you find it useful.
A lot of time and effort has gone into creating the WILDCAT utilities
I've written. I find them useful, and hope you do too!
$15 or so would be reasonable. If you register this program, you will get
full support at the number above and enhancements or customiz-
ation within reason. Thanks!
